We are hoping to be able to pull together a trip to Texas in March for equipment.  We are open for orders on that. Need to add that the price of steel has increased once again.  It isn't moving up as quickly as the price of grains across the state have been but it has moved up nonetheless.  Because of the increase in steel prices, the price of the Northeast Gate Co. Equipment has also seen an increase.  Will need to rework those prices and bring up to date the catalog.  We are hoping to bring in fitting stands soon and have been looking into that more recently.  Will hope to update on that soon!

The Hi-Energy feed is the new line of goat feed for Plain Vision.  It has the 6% fat like the Quick Start but the fat source is based on Distillers Grains.  We also added Beet Pulp.  We went together with these two products as one Distillers, according to some research has the energy values of corn but with all the concern for acidosis removed.  I really dislike feeding corn as the animals can experience faster foot growth/laminitis concerns, etc.  All of our lines carry a little corn ... the Premium only has 200lbs out of 2000lbs of ingredients as corn.  The Hi-Energy, as a higher carb design, carries 400lbs of corn per 2000lbs plus with added distillers.  All lines carry Alfalfa Meal and Direct Fed Microbials as well as Diatomaceous Earth, etc.. The Hi-Energy is producing softer hair coats, some producers report, within three days of feeding.  We like that feed as much as our other lines. It doesn't carry the protein up to the levels of the Quick Start but wasn't designed to.  It is at a 16% protein.

We have had some ideas to help our businesses grow and remain more cost effective. One was a move into a bigger truck for hauling hay and equipment back to Ohio from Texas and surrounding states.  We are working on the finishing touches of that and are currently waiting on the hay tarps to be completed and sent to us and then we should be ready for travel. Russell and myself finished our licensing for Class A CDL with the airbrake endorsement.  I add all of that because I never realized how complicated it is to get a CDL and every little bit of those additions on there takes some doing.  Just all this to say, I always have had respect for folks in the truck driving industry but now at a greater degree than before. You know in the driving part of that test the officials ask you to parallel park a big rig.  I remember being nervous about parallel parking a car as a teenager, but that becomes much more interesting when the size of the vehicle steps up a couple of levels.

Organitex, LLC, in the state of Texas, is now a livestock equipment provider in Texas and surrounding states.  Organitex is also looking toward making organic livestock feeds available.  They have been marketing environmental safety panels to businesses or individuals needing safety panels to keep livestock or wildlife out of dangerous places such as oil well equipment, wells, and pumpjacks.  These panels are an affordable option and are easily set-up and taken down making them transportable, versatile.

We are carrying equipment from Texas to here and on our travels can meet folks in surrounding states that are in need of livestock equipment.  Organitex recently (December 2007) made a trip through Oklahoma, Kansas on up to Ohio and back down through Tennessee, Arkansas.  We recently also had the opportunity to travel to New Jersey on business.  There is a possibility that your equipment can be conveniently delivered to your area to avoid high shipping costs.  If your farm is interested in the equipment and in a state that doesn't have these products available, contact us to see if we might be traveling on a route through your area.

November 2007 News

We just returned from picking up another load of Northeast Gate Company equipment in October. They built some specialty kidding pens for a customer's farm and we were really pleased with the Northeast Gate Company's service.  The customer ordered the pens with 2x4 wire squares instead of the 4x4 wire squares and also the heavy duty bars and with smaller panel gates than the typical 10' length. The Northeast Gate Company had their equipment ready to go in almost no time.  They have done the same for our fair customers Really have enjoyed dealing with them and since we are from Texas originally, we sometimes have the opportunity to visit family when we go back and places. It is great to see Texas again out of that drought and with hay in their fields.

We have begun to place our price sheets for Plain Vision Goat Feed and Performance Feed on the internet.  We hope to add our Manna Pro Feed prices to our site as time opens to design those pages.  We can carry all these types of feed and have found some pretty nice products within all these companies.  Their nutritionists really insist on feed efficiency and maintaining quality ingredients in the feed for that very cause as well as for the herds health. If your farm is interested in our prices for Manna Pro or Performance Feeds, please call or write.  Call in advance to check to see if we have a product in ... we pick up on a weekly basis so if we don't have we would be glad to bring it in.  We can also bring in organics and carry additional copper supplements.  This has shown positive results in our goat herd as well as others. Our business is located at 7163 Nettle Creek Rd. St. Paris, Ohio 43072.

If you are interested in purchasing some goats or know somebody who is ... we sometimes have some available but also we are in contact with many Goat Producers across the state of Ohio as well as in surrounding states that have quality animals.  As we deliver feed or equipment, we  have seen many of these farms goats and can tell you where to locate some quality Boer Breeding  herds as well as some dairy stock, or even pygmy's. I know many have had some frustrations buying from goat dealers and so that is why i am glad to mention private farms with quality stock to purchase from to save new goat producers some headaches in building up a herd.  We don't know everything there is to know about goats but we can tell you what we tried and what didn't work out for us and we can mention some things that did work. Most of our goats are registered Fullblood Boers, but we also have some Percentages.  We are in contact with farms with everything from commercial to registered sanctioned show Boer stock, dairy and pygmys for sale. If interested please call.
